Help Us Make 1000 Earrings!
Kuhle Apha has begun a working relationship with young (and old) designers in different areas
around South Africa, who are incredible crafters with experience in jewellery making. The aim is to
produce a variety of earrings to sell to shops on behalf of the crafters, to assist them by encouraging
sound product development and, most importantly, making an awesome profit from selling the
craft!
The aim is produce a total of 1000 earrings (starting 1 November 2012) by different crafters. This will
be the beginning of a relationship that will mostly benefit the crafters as their work is distributed to
all nine provinces by Kuhle Apha.
The crafters, who have joined the team thus far, each specialise in a different aspect/technique in
the arts. The aim is to create a showcase of a South African style that is universal and fashionable
without being typically/conventionally African. The designers come from different backgrounds,
some make craft as their main source of income and for others, it’s something they do on the side to
make an extra income.
